Trees grow roots and so do we
Our wish one place to stay
In this town and framework mind
Safety to obey
The world is built to mold a mind
Like soft wet dirty clay
Yet stagnant standing we remain
Black and white-one way

Summer Has Begun

First off I would like to apologize for not updating my blog in forever! I will start updating it as frequently as I can. Spring has been crazy busy so Ive got a lot to write! I recently started working at the Honey Stinger Warehouse which is awesome because they have given me very flexible hours. So we started off the spring with a trip to Park City, Utah where we did physical testing at the Center Of Excellence. I will post some pictures of the testing being done. My results were pretty average as they usually are in the spring so I have had my work cut out to try and improve those numbers. In the fall our team will go back and test again to see our improvement over the summer. Although I graduated high school in December, I walked at my graduation this spring with all my fellow classmates. It is cool to see all the kids I grew up with in Steamboat graduating and moving on to college. I am taking a different path however and plan on continually improving so I can make a career out of this skiing thing. My training this spring has consisted of lots of road biking, running, roller skiing, and weights. This is a time of lots of training and almost no competitions. Today however, we had a roller ski time trial that we do annually to progress our improvements. If you aren't familiar with roller skiing, it is a way for us to cross country ski in the summer. My time in the Fish Creek Time Trial last year was 30 minutes and 55 seconds. Today I finished in 28 minutes and 30 seconds which is almost a 2.5 minute improvement. This is reassuring because it means everything I'm doing training wise is working quite well. Also now that summer has begun we are ski jumping again. After almost 3 months of no jumping it is great to be back. The feeling of flying through the air just never gets old. Tomorrow a few of my teammates and I are riding a century ride on our road bikes (100 miles). Then next week we are off to Park City, Utah again but this time for a jump camp on the Olympic Hills. Coming up this month is our Wine Soiree to raise money for the National Nordic Foundation which helps support US Nordic Combined. The event is June 28th at the Botanical Gardens so if you are Interested leave a comment below and I can give you some more info about the event. I'll keep you updated in the weeks to come. Thanks for all your support and thank you to the NNF, Madshus, Rudy Project, and SportMulti for helping me work towards my dream of being the best in the world. P.S. below are some pictures from this spring.
